ballad of the rear window

By Sarah Aziz From Issue No. 9

the sunned hair under the clasp

caught in my hem tucked under the fairy

circle we stitched all weekend only to

wear water bleeding on accosted thighs

touched by the thread lapping browned

peaches gilding my mouth a scarlet of a girl

-hood reclaimed like falling asleep over no God’s border.
