Sorcerer (1977) Dir. William Friedkin

By Gia Clark-Grillo From Issue No. 9

picture four threads

that aren’t really threads

frayed. waxed.  waiting

just beyond the reach of the fire

when lit they’ll run

furiously in the same direction

reason has nothing to do with it

fate has taken control

when you see

faces. bodies. fingers

wet with sweat

dripping all toil

no reward

don’t assume this is

a story of redemption

a lit fuse rarely is
